In his last hit out before a potential Test debut, Sam Konstas was dismissed for a duck in the Big Bash League on Saturday night.
All eyes were on Konstas during the Sydney Smash between the Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers at the Sydney Showground after the young gun was elevated to the Test squad in Nathan McSweeney's place.
While Konstas has been included as part of the Boxing Day Test squad, he is no guarantee to feature in Australia's final XI for the marquee MCG match.
Hoping to snare the vacant opening batting spot left by McSweeney, Konstas would have been hoping to back up from his record-breaking BBL debut earlier this week.

The 19-year-old scored the Thunder's fastest-ever half-century as the team chased down its target of 183 with two balls to spare against the Strikers.
Konstas scored 56 runs from 27 balls, including eight 4s and two 6s as Warner and Cameron Bancroft faltered.
Having come to the crease alongside David Warner to open for the Thunder on Saturday, Konstas chopped onto his stumps for a third-ball duck.
His dismissal left the Thunder 1-1.
Coming in at No.3, Bancroft was the best with the bat for the Thunder — unbeaten on 70 runs as the hosts set a total of 163. This was later chased down as the Sixers recorded a five-wicket win in the derby.
Earlier, fellow Australia Test squad member Josh Inglis featured in the Perth Scorchers' 8-wicket loss to the Hobart Hurricanes at Bellerive Oval.

A mix-up in the middle saw Inglis run out on 49 runs (off 35 balls), causing the wicketkeeper-batter to punch the ground in frustration.
Inglis got the visitors off to a strong start and appeared on course to bring up a half-century before disaster struck.
With Inglis on strike, Ashton Turner sent Inglis back up the pitch where he was run out by Riley Meredith.
The right-hander appeared to slip as he turned back and was caught just short of the line.
"Josh Inglis would be disappointed with himself," former Aussie wicketkeeper Brad Haddin told Fox Cricket.
"He wasn't quite sure where that ball went.
"I think Ashton Turner initially said yes and he took off, then sent him back.
"He is filthy there, Josh Inglis.
"He thought he was coming so he took off … He called after what looked like three or four steps."
