‘In disbelief’: Pro wrestling world mourns loss of former NWA world champion Jax Dane

Pro wrestling is mourning the death of Jax Dane, who passed away this week.

Dane suffered a heart attack in November and passed away on Christmas Day at the age of 48. He is survived by his wife and stepson.

The former NWA world champion – real name Jeremy Laymon – enjoyed a career that spanned more than a decade across multiple promotions.

Dane's passing was announced via social media on Friday (AEDT) and led to plenty of tributes from his peers.

Dane spent the large majority of his time in the ring with NWA, holding four separate championships and travelling to Japan to represent the company.

He also competed for Ring Of Honor and Impact Wrestling, sharing the squared circle with many stars who have gone on to work with WWE and AEW.
