In short:

Australia clinched a 3-1 tie victory over Sweden in Stockholm with its win in the doubles rubber.

John Peers and Matt Ebden defeated Filip Bergevi and Andre Goransson 6-7 (7/9), 6-3, 6-2.

What's next?

Australia will host a second-round qualifying tie home soil against either Belgium or Chile in September.

Olympic champions John Peers and Matt Ebden have reunited to deliver Australia an emphatic Davis Cup triumph in Sweden.

With Australia leading 2-0 after the opening day of the first-round qualifying tie in Stockholm, Peers and Ebden teamed up for the first time since the Paris Olympics to win the tie-clinching doubles rubber.

Competing for only the second time together as a Davis Cup partnership, Peers and Ebden defeated Filip Bergevi and Andre Goransson 6-7 (7/9), 6-3, 6-2.

Peers later lost a consolation singles against Leo Borg 7-5, 6-4, but the 3-1 tie victory ensured Australia eased into September's second qualifying round at home against either Belgium or Chile.

"Belgium and Chile are both super tough teams, so we're going to watch that tie, but the most important thing is we were all here fighting as a team to get a home tie in September," Ebden said.

"It'll be our first home tie in Australia in at least three years, so this one was for the team and to take a home tie back home."

Alex de Minaur and Aleksandar Vukic both won their singles rubbers on Saturday morning AEDT.

Australia has not contested a Davis Cup tie on home soil since 2022.
