Wests Tigers fans are revolting, with a group of over 500 demanding an independent review of the running of the joint venture in an online petition.
The club is imploding, with directors from the Wests and Balmain sides of the partnership involved in an ugly battle for control.
On Monday, Wide World of Sports revealed that the Christchurch-based Kea franchise had held secret talks with Balmain about joining forces should the Wests Tigers fall apart.

The fans have had enough – and are demanding an inquiry into the Holman Barnes Group that runs the joint venture.
The Wests Tigers Unite social media group that created the petition is calling for a comprehensive external review of the governance of the Holman Barnes Group and the actions of directors attempting to oust fellow directors and even ban them from entering club premises for seemingly innocuous actions.
They plan to present the result of the review to Liquor and Gaming NSW, and the NSW Minister for Liquor and Gaming, The Hon. David Harris, MP.
Rob Bechara, who runs a popular Tigers podcast, is one of the driving forces behind the petition.
"I'm concerned about the procrastination of the implementation of the full recommendations made by the independent and external review," Bechara said.
"I'm also bothered by the continuous unrest amongst board members of Holman Barnes Group and the embarrassment it not only brings to themselves but also the Wests Tigers.
"A united board at ownership level is vital for the stability and success at the Wests Tigers and all decisions made at board level MUST be in the best interests of the Wests Tigers and its future.
"I hope all Wests Tigers fans support this petition. It's in the best interests of Wests Tigers future."
