The Mole: Sydney Roosters land ‘giant youngsters’ as forward pack rebuild begins

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson has started his front-row reboot by signing two giant youngsters from the Bulldogs.

NSW under 19 prop Fanafou Seve and his 17-year-old brother Itula are poised to join the Roosters on long-term deals.

The club are in desperate need of grunt up front having lost experienced big men Terrell May (Wests Tigers), Dylan Napa (retired), Sitili Tupouniua (Bulldogs) and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Hull Kingston Rovers) over the summer.

The brothers were held in high regard at Belmore but decided on the switch as a result of the Roosters' rebuild and the chance for a quicker path to the top grade.

Both tip the scales at around 115 kilos and are regarded as future first graders.

Fanafou was a standout for the Blues' under 19s against Queensland last year and also led the Bulldogs in the 2024 SG Ball Cup Grand Final loss to Dragons.

Younger brother Itula was captain of the Bulldogs' Harold Matthews Cup squad last season and has been in hot deland from rival clubs.

"They are good kids and will probably play NRL – sadly you can't keep them all," a Bulldogs source told Wide World of Sports.
