Teen Australian Test debutant Sam Konstas touches down in Melbourne ahead of Boxing Day

Teen batter Sam Konstas has landed in Melbourne, just hours after being called up to debut for Australia in the Boxing Day Test.

Konstas was told of his debut before Saturday night's Sydney Smash Big Bash match between the Thunder and Sixers.

The youngster is now preparing to join the rest of his teammates at the MCG before one of the biggest games on the Australian calendar.

"It will be a huge honour debuting," Konstas said on Fox during the Big Bash on Saturday night.

"It will be a dream come true."

The 19-year-old will likely replace Nathan McSweeney, who debuted in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but has failed to fire as an opener.

It's left a humble, yet excited Konstas with the chance of a lifetime.

McSweeney returned to the Big Bash on Sunday night, playing for the Brisbane Heat.

Konstas will train with the Australian cricket team on Monday for the first time and will speak with media beforehand.

It is against a backdrop of rising tension between Australia and India, with the latest saga unfolding on Sunday.

The Australia vs India media cricket match was canned after a handful of Indian journalists took offence to the past few days' events.

India again held their press conference in Hindi on Sunday.
