A piece of roofing has forced fans to exit the stands at the Sydney Smash as the wild weather conditions caused play to be abandoned.
The Sydney Sixers hosted cross-city rivals the Thunder at the SCG on Friday, but play was consistently delayed by heavy winds and rain.
Even before action on the field began, security guards were called to evacuate fans from two bays in the Bill O'Reilly Stand as a piece of the roofing began to detach.

Ground staff were seen struggling in the winds as they attempted to pull the covers on during the first rain delay.
The Thunder managed 1-35 from 5.1 overs before an official decision to abandon the match.

While it was a disappointing ending for the sold-out SCG crowd, the decision sees the Sixers sit second and Thunder positioned third on the ladder.
The Thunder's rival for their home knockout clash of the season has yet to be confirmed, but the club will return to action on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Sixers will face the ladder-leading Hobart Hurricanes at Ninja Stadium on Tuesday.
