Nick Kyrgios broke down in tears as he retired from his first-round match at Indian Wells in California on Friday (AEDT), shattered that injury had derailed his career again.
Kyrgios dropped the first set of his clash with Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp 7-6(7) and then found himself 3-0 down in the second.
It was at that point the Australian pulled out of the match amid a battle with a long-term wrist injury.
