Gold Coast receives major boost as Tino Fa’asuamaleaui in line for return after overseas trip

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui will be fit to play for the Titans at the start of the 2025 season, with the club's captain in the final stages of recovering from a knee injury.

The front-rower missed the majority of last year after suffering an ACL tear against the Bulldogs in round three, putting a major dent in Gold Coast's finals hopes.

But in a welcome boost for Titans fans, the club confirmed Fa'asuamaleaui would rejoin the main squad in the coming weeks and be available for the side's trial fixtures.

The 24-year-old recently spent time overseas with world-renowned sports conditioning coach Bill Knowles, who has worked with multiple NRL players.

"As soon as I found out that I did my ACL, one of my first thoughts was for us to organise America," Fa'asuamaleaui told the club website in October.

"The club have been very good in sorting that out and making sure I get over there and learn from some of the best physios and trainers in the world."

The looming return of one of the game's best props in Fa'asuamaleaui will see him join new recruit Reagan Campbell-Gillard, who has signed with the club after a surprise release from the Parramatta Eels at the end of 2024.

Des Hasler will have plenty of weapons at his disposal in the forwards this year, with the likes of David Fifita and Moeaki Fotuaika also vital parts of the Titans engine room.

Gold Coast's first regular-season game will come against Canterbury in round two.
