‘Extremely tragic’: Former England rugby star Tom Voyce missing, feared dead during flood

Former English rugby star Tom Voyce is missing and feared dead after his car was swept away into a river during a flood in the UK

According to reports, the former winger did not return home following an evening with friends on Sunday.

Storm Darragh has left more than 100,000 homes without power across the UK, with two confirmed deaths.

It's understood Voyce, 43, was pulled along with the current of the river in his car.

The car has since been recovered, but police did not find Voyce. It's believed he was swept away while attempting to escape and died.

"This is an extremely tragic incident, and our thoughts are very much with Tom's loved ones at this time," Chief Superintendent Helena Barron, of Northumbria Police, said.

"Our officers continue to support his family and we would ask that their privacy is respected.

"Extensive inquiries have been ongoing since concerns were raised for Tom, including deploying specialist teams to search for him."
