Carlton midfielder Sam Walsh sidelined after latest pre-season injury

Carlton midfielder Sam Walsh is the latest AFL star to suffer a pre-season injury setback.

The 24-year-old suffered a hamstring strain at Blues training on Monday.

Scans revealed the extent of the damage, with the club confirming that Walsh will miss at least the next month of training.

The club says they expect Walsh to integrate back into training over the next two to three weeks.

Carlton also confirmed they expect their co-vice captain to be fully fit for their first match of their 2025 campaign, against Richmond in round one.

It's another nightmare pre-season setback for Walsh, who last year was battling back complications after surgery just before the 2023 season.

Carlton will hope to have Walsh fully fit this season, after a disappointing 2024 campaign that saw them bundled out of the finals in the first week.

They were defeated eventual premiers Brisbane, with an injury-riddled Blues outfit down 60-0 at one stage of that elimination final at the Gabba.

There are just 58 days until the side's round one clash.
