The time to celebrate for the Broncos in Sydney was short-lived after their big win over the Roosters, with the club organising a quick return home to assist family and friends before the full force of Cyclone Alfred arrives.

9news Brisbane revealed that the Broncos had chartered a flight to leave from Sydney as soon as possible after their match, which they won 50-14.

The flight takes them directly to Toowoomba before a bus back to Brisbane.

Brisbane were also given a police escort from Allianz Stadium to the airport, James Bracey revealed on Nine's coverage.

Star fullback Reece Walsh had a special message for the fans at home after the win.

"Queensland, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, all the way down to Byron – they're going through it at the moment," he said on Nine.

"We just want to send a message, we hope everyone's doing well, we're coming home, keep looking after each other, looking after your neighbours, just checking in.

"I'm sure we'll get through it."

Post-game, Adam Reynolds described the situation as the "unknown" for the state.

"I don't think too many people have been through a cyclone so for us it's about getting home as soon as possible, being with our loved ones and making sure that we're all OK," the Broncos skipper said in his press conference.

"We're thinking of everyone that's going to be affected through the cyclone, it's not something we want to go through but it's important to bunker down, make sure everyone's OK and just check in on each other."

The Dolphins also had their plans shifted for Friday's match against the Rabbitohs after they were originally scheduled to play at home.

Instead, the match will be played in Sydney. Kodi Nikorima, Mark Nicholls and Kenny Bromwich withdrew from the match to stay at home.

Nikorima's wife, Bree, blasted the relocation decision, calling it "disgusting".
