The drought is over – Australia has won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the first time in 10 years.
The hosts totally dominated day three at the SCG, cleaning up India early before chasing down the runs only four wickets down and clinch a spot in the World Test Championship final.
"Fantastic for Australia, they've found a way and found a way throughout the series," Michael Vaughan said on Fox Cricket.
AS IT HAPPENED: Australia vs India fifth Test, day three
India started the day 6-141 and were quickly bowled out for 157 with Pat Cummins and Scott Boland taking the wickets.
Boland's two meant he finished with 6-45, making it a 10-wicket haul for the match.

The big talking point from Australia's innings came before it even started with Jasprit Bumrah not making it out on to the field.
The nerves from Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna were obvious with 26 runs conceded inside the first two overs.
Inside four overs though a wicket would fall when Sam Konstas attempted to hack Krishna over mid-wicket.
Washington Sundar was the man taking the catch as Konstas departed for 22.
1-39 quickly became 3-58 with Marnus Labuschagne (6) and Steve Smith (4) both dismissed by Krishna. Smith's dismissal left him one run short of a 10,000 milestone.
Australia then went to lunch in a precarious position at 3-71 with Usman Khawaja on 19 and Travis Head on 5.
Khawaja powered on after lunch to 41 before his nick behind handed Siraj his 100th Test wicket.
There were no further concerns for Australia though with Head (34no) and Beau Webster (39no) leading Australia to victory.
The winning runs came off the bat of the debutant Webster who smashed Washington Sundar down the ground for a boundary and celebrated with great passion.
"I like the way he's finished it, it means a lot to the man, it means a lot to the Australian cricket team," Ravi Shastri said.
