Australia has clinched its opening Davis Cup tie with a 3-1 win over Sweden in Stockholm.

After Alex de Minaur and Aleksandar Vukic gave the Aussies a perfect start in the two opening singles rubbers on Saturday morning (AEDT), John Peers and Matt Ebden sealed the deal by winning their doubles rubber over Filip Bergevi and Andre Goransson 6-7 (7), 6-3, 6-2.

It was the first time the pair had teamed up since clinching gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics, and only the second time they had teamed up in the Davis Cup.

Australia will play either Belgium or Chile – the result of that tie will be decided Sunday night (AEDT) – at home in the next qualifying round in September.

It will be the first time since 2022 the Aussies have played a Davis Cup tie on home soil.

"Belgium and Chile are both super tough teams, so we're going to watch that tie, but the most important thing is we were all here fighting as a team to get a home tie in September," Ebden said.

"It'll be our first home tie in Australia in at least three years, so this one was for the team and to take a home tie back home."

Elsewhere, Denmark rallied from 2-0 down to beat Serbia 3-2 for their biggest Davis Cup comeback in history.

On day one, Miomir Kecmanovic beat Elmer Moeller 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, before world No.94 Hamad Medjedovic came from a set down to upset world No.12 Holger Rune 2-6, 6-3, 6-1.

Then on Sunday morning (AEDT), Rune teamed up with Johannes Ingildsen to beat Kecmanovic and Medjedovic 6-4, 6-4, before Rune and Moeller flipped the script in the reverse singles rubbers to seal the victory.
