Australia coach Andrew McDonald has declared he's "confident" Travis Head will play in the Boxing Day Test despite concerns around his fitness.
Reports emerged on Tuesday that Head left the nets looking frustrated which comes after he failed to field during India's short second innings at the Gabba.
The left-hander pulled up looking sore while batting with Alex Carey prior to India's innings.
"(I'm) really confident that he'll play," McDonald told reporters on Christmas Eve.
"Has he got some things to work through? Yeah he has … there's no concern at the moment.

"Has he been officially ticked off? I'm not sure, I didn't see the back end of his training session but I'm pretty confident he'll play."
Asked what Head needed to work on, McDonald confirmed it was strictly around his fitness.
"That's probably a medical question," he said.
"I think he looked good with the bat in hand, so skills are in good order.
"It'll just be what risks are associated with that. He had a small strain to the quad … but there's no concerns from my end, he's been able to do his running so I think he'll be functional."
McDonald also confirmed Sam Konstas will debut for Australia at the MCG but wasn't willing to comment on whether Josh Inglis is on standby for Head.
The coach did go on to say Scott Boland will play while Mitch Marsh is "fully fit" to bowl.
