Alyssa Healy’s injury issues continue as fresh blow leaves her in doubt for Ashes finale

Australia's captain Alyssa Healy is facing the prospect of being out for the remainder of the women's Ashes after suffering another injury.

Healy had previously injured her plantar fascia leading into the series before playing in New Zealand and was ruled fit to play.

But Cricket Australia has revealed she has developed mid-foot soreness on the same side as that previous issue, following the ODI series.

"She is currently being managed in a boot and will not be available for this evening's game," a CA statement read.

"Cricket Australia's medical team is consulting with specialists to develop an appropriate management plan over the coming days.

"Her availability for the remainder of the series will be assessed as more information becomes available."

Currently Australia leads the Ashes comprehensively after winning all three of the ODIs.

Ash Gardner has been the standout with the bat, topping the runscorers list with 146 at 73. Healy is third with 114 runs.

Australia's Alana King is the leading wicket-taker with 11.

Healy has a tight schedule if she is to play a further role in the Ashes, with the three T20Is to be played inside five days. The final Test match will be played on January 30 at Melbourne.
