A popular Christmas product sold in Kmart stores across Australia has been recalled due to a chemical defect that could cause some consumers to feel unwell. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has warned that the Christmas-themed quilt and pillowcase sets emit a strong chemical odor that may cause consumers to react. The news was first reported by Channel Nine’s Current Affairs program nine days ago after viewers came forward to complain about health concerns.
The affected sets include the Mr & Mrs Claus Queen Quilt Cover Set. (ACCC) The affected sets include the Mr & Mrs Claus Queen Quilt Cover Set, Christmas Elf Twin Quilt Cover Set, Merry Christmas Pillowcase Set, Santa & Elves Pillowcase Set and Christmas Quilt Twin Quilt Cover Set. The products are sold under the Anko brand and could cause serious injury or illness if the products come into contact with the skin or the odor is inhaled. “The product emits a strong chemical odor that may cause a reaction in consumers because it was not cured correctly during the manufacturing process,” the ACCC warned. The product was sold between September 22 and December 4. Identifying products have the following key codes:

Customers are advised to “stop using the product immediately” and return the duvet cover to their nearest Kmart store for a refund.
