(Getty)The price changes will increase the cost of sending a priority ordinary small letter by 50 cents, from $2.20 to $2.70.Australia Post is not proposing to increase the price of concession stamps or stamps for seasonal greeting cards, which remain at 60 cents and 65 cents respectively.ACCC Commissioner Catriona Lowe said it is currently seeking feedback from consumers, businesses and other stakeholders on the proposed price increase."We will then examine the information provided by Australia Post and the feedback received in the context of our role under the legislation," said Lowe.While the consumer watchdog does not have the authority to approve the proposed increases, it can object.The ACCC will release a preliminary review in early 2025, Australia Post may then lodge a formal notification of a price rise with the consumer watchdog.Australia Post must also give written notice to the minister for communications.The consultation period is open until December 22.
