There’s music fever in the air because the Hottest 100 season is here again. Music fans from across Australia are once again preparing to vote for their favourite tracks from the past year in Triple J’s annual poll.

What is the Hottest 100

Listeners can vote for their favourite Australian and alternative songs of the past year in the prestigious Triple J annual Hot 100 poll. As the new year approaches, the public can take part in the online poll hosted by Australia’s national youth radio station Triple J.

Important dates for the Hot 100

Voting for the Triple J Hottest 100 is currently open from December 10 to January 20. On January 24, Double J will repeat the 2004 Hottest 100, on January 25 the 2024 Hottest 100 will be voted, and on January 27 the songs that didn’t make the cut will be voted, and then the countdown will begin.

How to vote?

Follow the instructions on the Triple J website or app to go to the Hottest 100 voting page. You can add up to 10 tracks to your list and browse music released between December 1, 2023 and November 30, 2024. If there are songs missing, you can submit them manually.

The AutoVote feature is new this year; if you forget to lock in your top ten votes before the deadline, you can choose to have them automatically entered. Voting closes at 5pm (AEDT) on 20 January 2024.

The 2023 Triple J Hottest 100 countdown set a new record with 2.35 million votes and 35 new artists debuting. Five songs from Triple J Unearthed also made the list. Notably, Doja Cat became the first female rapper and woman of color to top the list.
