‘Pretty surreal that I get that opportunity again’: Veteran’s surprise 12-year return to Indigenous All Stars squad

Thirty-one players have been named in the AFL's Indigenous All Stars squad to take on Fremantle on Saturday week.

Head coach Xavier Clarke on Monday announced the full list of stars selected for the pre-season game on February 15.

The squad includes seven All-Australians, 10 premiership players, and seven top-20 draft picks.

Veteran talls Steven May and Liam Jones have both been selected, 12 years after they represented the All Stars in the 2013 fixture.

"As a kid growing up in Darwin, I always dreamed of being part of it," Demons veteran May said after picked in the squad on Monday.

"I was lucky enough to play back in 2013, and it's pretty surreal that I get that opportunity again.

"It's a privilege to represent our culture on the big stage.

"It's also a great chance for us to come together, from different cultures and backgrounds, to play the game that we all love.

"Hopefully we can put on a good show."

Port Adelaide has four players in the All Stars squad – Jason Horne-Francis, Jase Burgoyne, and Jeremy Finlayson.

Clarke said he was spoiled for choice.

"It was fantastic to see so many players available to play in the game," the coach said.

"It's an exciting squad and I can't wait to coach such a great list of players against Fremantle.

"I am in a fortunate position of having so much talent to work with and I can't wait to see the boys put on a show."
