Usman Khawaja's career-best 232 wasn't enough to knock off two legends of Australian cricket, but it was enough to join Sir Donald Bradman on an exclusive list.
The opener brought up his maiden double century on day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka, making him and Bradman the only two Australians to hit a double hundred at 38.
Khawaja was also on track to move past Greg Chappell for highest score from an Australian in Asia.

Chappell scored 235 in 1980 in Pakistan, while Mark Taylor is number one with his 334 not out in the same country in 1998.

Khawaja was eventually dismissed for 232, edging behind to Kusal Mendis off the bowling of Prabath Jayasuriya.
"A magic innings," Trent Copeland said on Seven.
While Khawaja did miss out on the feats of Chappell and Taylor, he did make his own record, becoming the first Australian men's Test player to score a double-century in Sri Lanka.
The previous highest score from an Aussie in Sri Lanka was Justin Langer's 166 in Colombo in 2004.
Khawaja has now made Test centuries in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The only other player to do that is Allan Border.
It's a stark contrast to the perception of Khawaja early in his career, who was constantly criticised for his ability to play spin. The left-hander averaged 14.63 from nine innings in the subcontinent prior to October 2018.
Against Pakistan in Dubai that month, his fortunes changed when he scored 141 against Pakistan.
From there, he's gone on to become a reliable man in Asia, and the only country he hasn't scored a century in is Bangladesh, albeit only playing one match.
