Western Bulldogs defender Jason Johannisen was seen limping off the training track at Whitten Oval with a hamstring injury on Wednesday.
The 2016 Norm Smith medallist was subsequently sent for scans which showed a hamstring strain.
After an injury-riddled campaign in 2024, the blow will see Johannisen sit out the beginning of the season.

The club confirmed that he will undergo a minor surgery to enhance his recovery.
Johannisen featured in only nine games last year because of a lengthy stint on the sidelines with injury.
The 32-year-old originally strained his hamstring in a training mishap before suffering a complex calf strain as hear neared his return.
After signing a one-year contract extension last October, Johannisen is signed to the Bulldogs until the end of this upcoming season.
Gun midfielder Adam Treloar only managed to walk laps as he continues his recovery from a calf injury.
Treloar sustained the injury during the Bulldogs' round 24 victory over GWS.

Earlier in the week, the club had been hopeful that Treloar would be fit to participate in the club's training camp in Noosa which is scheduled to begin on Friday.
Star forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan was once again not sighted as his period of absence from the club continues.
The former No.1 draft pick has been training away from Whitten Oval with the club last week confirming that he is "undertaking flexible training arrangements" to deal with "personal issues".
Ugle-Hagan has not been sighted at the club since December.
