West Coast will almost certainly be without premiership-winning midfielder Elliott Yeo for the start of the club's season after he suffered knee and ankle injuries on Friday.
The 31-year-old injured the medial ligament in his right knee and suffered syndesmosis damage to his right ankle when he was tackled during a training session at West Coast's headquarters, the club said in a statement.
"There are always risks involved as we increase the intensity at training to prepare for the season, and unfortunately Elliot has sustained injuries to his right knee and ankle," said Eagles footy boss Gavin Bell.
"We are working through his rehab program and a return-to-play timeline. At this stage, we're hopeful he will be available in the early part of the season."
Yeo had been training at full capacity despite copping a knock to the eye during a recent match simulation, which left him wearing protective eyewear.
The Eagles will open their season in a clash with the Gold Coast Suns in Perth on Sunday, March 16.
