‘Doing my best’: Errol Gulden trying to convince Chad Warner to stick with Swans after WA house purchase

Sydney's Errol Gulden has opened up on the work he is doing to attempt to keep teammate Chad Warner at the Swans beyond this season.

Warner, who is from Western Australia, recently purchased a four bedroom property with partner Alice in Perth.

The house is just situated between Fremantle and West Coast's training grounds.

It comes as Warner's contract with the Swans remains up in the air, with 2025 the only year left before he becomes a free agent.

And while it may look all but certain that a move back to his home state is on the way, it's not stopped Gulden from selling him the Sydney dream.

"I'm certainly doing my best, but it's Chad's decision," he said on Tuesday.

"I'll be niggling away at him throughout the year, don't worry about that."

Just 12 months ago, Gulden was also out of contract, with rival clubs attempting to lure the Sydneysider out.

And while the trade speculation impacted Gulden, he doesn't think Warner will feel the same pressure in 2025.

"I was kind of going through something similar last year. Probably not quite to the extent of Chad," he said.

"Obviously, I'm from Sydney and my contract was sorted pretty quickly.

"It definitely plays on your mind and you're thinking about it a fair bit. I feel like it probably affected my football at the start of last season, whether or not I was able to see it, I think it definitely did deep down.

"He's wired differently Chaddy. He certainly won't let it affect his footy."

As for the house, which is currently up for rent, Gulden already rates the look of it.

"It looks like a nice pad … nice holiday house for him," Gulden said with a smile.

"I love playing with him, he's one of my best mates. I just want to see him be happy. At least he's got a pretty nice pad now too."
