In short:
The Princess of Wales has announced she is in remission from cancer.
In a statement posted to social media, she said: "As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal."
What's next?
The princess says she will "remain focused on recovery".
The Princess of Wales, who had been receiving treatment for cancer, has confirmed she is in remission.
In a post on Instagram, Princess Catherine wrote: "It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery."
"As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal."
The princess's health issues were first revealed in January last year, when Kensington Palace announced she'd had abdominal surgery.
In March, Princess Catherine said she had been receiving treatment for cancer and in September she revealed her chemotherapy had ended.
Both of those updates were announced by the royal directly in video messages.
When Princess Catherine disclosed she was no longer receiving chemotherapy, she said her focus was on remaining "cancer free".
However, the social media post on Tuesday afternoon, local time, was the first time she had confirmed she was in remission.
The princess's announcement came on the same day she visited to a London cancer hospital, The Royal Marsden.
She was treated at the world-leading facility.
"I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you to The Royal Marsden for looking after me so well during the past year," she said.
"My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything.
"We couldn't have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional."
The Princess of Wales's announcement comes as other members of the royal family continue their health battles.
King Charles III last January announced he was receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
He returned to some public-facing duties in April, and travelled to Australia and Samoa in October.
Queen Camilla missed multiple engagements at the end of 2024 due to a chest infection, although she's since returned to royal duties.
