‘I won that fight’: Tyson Fury feels he has been ‘hard done by’, rejects world title defeat to Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury has refused to accept his second straight defeat to heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, claiming the judges gave the latter an "early Christmas gift."

All three judges' scores went in favour of the undefeated Ukrainian – 116-112 – as one judge submitted results that saw Usyk the winner of the final seven rounds.

The "dreadful" scorecards did not sit well with the Fury camp, with team fight promoter Frank Warren admitting he was left "dumbfounded" by how the bout ended in a four-point victory.

Former professional fighters weighed in on the results on social media as many suggested the scores should have included some more round victories for Fury.

Fury departed the ring before any questions could be asked about the bout, opting to head back to his dressing room and then return for his press conference.

"I'm not going to cry over spilt milk, it's over now," Fury said of the bout.

"I was quite confident, I thought I won that fight again. I thought I'd won both fights but then again, I've gone home with two losses on my record.

"There's not much I can do about it. I can just fight my heart out and do the best I can.

"Again, I will always believe until the day I die that I won that fight."

Asked about the scoring, Fury said he feels he has been "hard done by" on multiple occasions throughout his career.

"Listen, sometimes it is hard to score," he said.

"I feel a lot of people did as well, same score. Frank had me three or four rounds up.

"A lot of people had me (up by) at least two… It is what it is.

"I've been boxing my whole life, you can't change no decisions.

"When you don't get the knockout this is what happens. You can't guarantee a win."

Responding to the comments made by the Fury camp, Usyk could not hold back his elation over the victory.

"Uncle Frank, I think he is blind," Usyk said.

"But if Tyson says it is a Christmas gift then OK, thank you God, not Tyson.

"Thank you to my team too."
