Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy hopes a rare act from fullback Ryan Papenhuyzen "won't happen again" after he bombed a try early in his side's win.

In the 16th minute, Papenhuyzen split open the Eels defence and had a two-on-one situation with Cameron Munster next to him.

The fullback chose to dummy and was tackled by Isaiah Iongi with Munster throwing his hands in the air.

"He has to owe him money … that was a try gone begging there," Billy Slater said on Nine.

"They never make those mistakes, they never, ever make those mistakes. That's just a six-pointer under the posts," Phil Gould added.

It didn't matter too much, with the Storm going into the sheds leading 46-6.

As he walked off, Papenhuyzen revealed the reason why.

"We're doing a little try tally so I didn't want to give him one," he told Nine's Ruan Sims.

"He can try harder for that one."

Post-game, Bellamy was at a loss to explain why it happened.

"I don't know, they might have a had a bet on," he smiled.

"It wasn't like Paps to be quite honest. I could imagine the other way around, Munster to show-and-go himself and try and score the try himself.

"Paps is not normally like that. Hopefully it won't happen again."
